The course is the video version of the book O Batuque Carioca. You will learn how to play all the instruments that make up the drum section of a Samba School. As special guests, we have some of the best percussionists of Rio de Janeiro.

GUILHERME GONÇALVES
Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began his musical studies in 1977 at the Villa-Lobos Music School. He graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, in 1986. He played with the National Symphonic Orchestras, Pro-Music, Symphonic Orchestra of Paraná and several Brazilian popular music artists. He was professor of percussion at the Villa-Lobos School of Music, at the MPB Conservatory of Curitiba. At State University of Rio de Janeiro where, in 2000, he coordinated the 1st Percussion Festival of UERJ / RJ. Participated in several courses and workshops in Brazil and abroad. It has two books edited: "O Ritmo Pelas Subdivisões" and "O Batuque Carioca". He is a author of Mangueira's samba song for the 2004 carnival . In 2014, he made the Short film “Batuque". Mr. Gonçalves is the writer and music director of the play "A Febre do Samba". Nowadays he is also a chronicler on the website “Carnavalesco".
ODILON COSTA
Born in Rio de Janeiro, he started as a percusionist at the União da Ilha Samba School where, in 1991, he became a Drum Master. From there, after a brief passage through the School of Samba Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, he commanded the drum section of the Beija-Flor Samba School for three years. He was also a Drum Master of the Acadêmicos da Grande Rio between 1998 and 2009 where, in 1999 and 2005, he won the Estandarte de Ouro award of the O Globo newspaper. Also in 2005 he won the prizes of Radio Tupi, Radio Manchete, Tamborim de Ouro and the Troféu Mestre André. As a musician he created the group "Os 20 de Ouro do Mestre Odilon" and participated in several recordings with Brazilian and international artists such as: Caetano Veloso, Simone, Dionne Warwick, Sergio Mendes... He is often invited for lectures and clinics in several cities in Brazil. He is part of the cast of the play "A Febre do Samba" and the panel of judges of the Estandarte de Ouro award of the newspaper O Globo.
